Recover deleted entries in Strapi

A trash for Strapi 5: a deleted entry keeps its last state, locale by locale, and comes back as a draft with its original identifier, links included.

A deleted entry is usually noticed when a page breaks. With Revisionary, the entry and its history wait in a trash until someone brings them back.

A trash for deleted entries

When an entry of a versioned content type is deleted, its last state goes to the Trash, for each locale. The list shows its type, its locales and who deleted it.

Preview, then restore

Preview shows the last content before deletion, locale by locale. Restore brings the entry back as a draft, with its original identifier: links and references that point to it work again, and its history continues.

If only one locale was deleted, restoring recreates it next to the others.

Restoring says which locales come back.

Delete for good

The bin icon deletes the history for good. It cannot be undone, and it is recorded in the audit log, like every trash action.

Questions and answers

Is a restored entry published again?

It comes back as a draft, with its original identifier. Publish it when you are ready.

Do links and relations to the entry work again?

Yes. The entry keeps its original identifier, so links and references that point to it work again.

Can I empty the trash?

Yes, entry by entry with the bin icon. It cannot be undone and is recorded in the audit log.
